Maggot
I have my own familiar maggot.
Been burrowing my brain for years.
It's firmly lodged inside now.
A trail of doubt left in its wake.
The like of which a stubbornness sticks,
To many, many thoughts.
It has a dull, vibrating sound.
And so vivid is its presence,
I believed it was my inner core.
Now I see it was planted by experience still raw.
The doubting maggot is not there from birth.
We share it from ear to ear.
